The Wicomico Child Advocacy Center is a program focused on facilitating the investigation, treatment, and prosecution of child abuse. The Wicomico Child Advocacy Center (WCAC) is a collaboration of seven agencies that facilitates multidisciplinary team investigations of child maltreatment and offers direct services to the child and family during and after the investigation. These organizations include the Office of the State's Attorney for Wicomico County, Wicomico County Department of Social Services, Wicomico County Sheriff's Department, Salisbury Police Department, Maryland State Police - Barrack "E", Wicomico Partnership for Families and Children (local management board), and the Life Crisis Center, Inc. The WCAC provides a place and oversees a process whereby law enforcement, child protective services, prosecution, and mental health professionals work as partners for the best outcome for the child, ensuring that abused and neglected children receive a comprehensive and sensitive response. The Center's mission is to partner for the better investigation and assessment of abuse allegations, prosecution of offenders, and treatment for children and families impacted by child abuse and neglect.
